A few years ago in designing the expansion of our home in Hawaii, I decided to import a bathtub and a bidet. Two items not commonly found in homes here.
I was very specific with every contractor that I wanted a picture window over the bathtub with a view to the sea.
Someone, plans, reminders and text messages were not sufficient to reminder our plumber "do not pass pipes where the window will be placed".
Well, you can guess what happened. Multiple constraints did not help in trying to rectify the problem and ever since I spent money for a window that I can't use or sell locally and neither take a bath with a view.
So to retaliate and express maximum dissatisfaction for the otherwise exceptional craft and care displayed by such plumber, I give him a gift for his birthday (around xmas time) every year, ever since.
I have been doing this for years now 😃
